I am assigned to watch over our internet cafe and I have nothing to do (aside from avoiding the "friendly" guys asking for my number) when I stumbled upon a page with squashed philosophers. My initial understanding is that they are phonies, you know, that's why they were squashed, but I realized later that what they mean by squashed is condensed; The use of the word 'Squashed' as part of the title of works of condensation, abridgement, AND is a Trade Name.
Glyn Hughes succesfully compiled the greatest philosophers and their works. He also included a few, brief explanations in each article. The banner says that: these are "THE books which defined the way The West thinks now...
In their own words... but condensed and abridged into something like readable" I couldn't quite agree more at that. When I scrolled down the page my eyes when immediately to a name I sought and recognize: Nietzsche. It took only that and I was clicking away to download the the writings I am interested in and I can say that I now have a good number of copies downloaded and printed. I'll read it later (yay!) :D
There's Plato's, Aristotle's, Epicurus', Cicero's, Aurelius' and much much more. There's also an approximation of how much time is needed for you to finish one piece. (The longest one is Plato's The Republic, about 61 mins)
He (looks a lot like Einstein, know him? The drawing genius from Faber Castel?) also have other books: Squashed Divines and Squashed Writers. Before I sound like a neurotic ad person I'd like to point out that I am really interested in this thing lol. So if you're a sucker in what other people consider as boring; dig in!
